The group of Schools celebrated Sri Mudduswamy Dikshidar Day, one of the legends of Carnatic Music, on Friday, 29th November 2019. Sri.Namagiri Ramesh, Secretary, Thyagaraja Sangeetha Vidvath Samaj gave a music recital singing a few Keerthanas of Sri Mudduswamy Dikshidar. Students of the Music School and teachers and non-teaching staff were present in large numbers appreciated her soulful rendering of the Keerthanas of Sri Mudduswamy Dikshidar.

Intramural sports was conducted in our school ground on 23rd November 2019. Our Secretary presided over the function. The Olympic torch was taken round the ground and handed over to the Secretary as the symbol of Inauguration. The Secretary flagged off the events and encouraged the students.

‘Zhil [vopy;] Tamizh Ilakkiya Mandram’, our Tamil Literary Club held its first association meeting in Maithiri Auditorium on 20th November 2019. It was presided over by the Secretary. After inducting the office bearers, the Secretary distributed the prizes. Thereafter the students presented a program under three different heads namely Drama, chorus, and Quiz .

Remembering 14th of November as the birthday of our first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Children’s Day was celebrated on 14th November. The whole show was conducted depicting the steps that Nehru took in developing our nation by giving priority to science and industries. A Quiz program on the Satellites was conducted. The Joint Secretary and the audience appreciated the program, which was very informative.

Our school’s English Literary Association named ‘Srijan’ held its first association meeting for this academic year on 21st October 2019. The Secretary and Joint Secretary inducted the Office Bearers. Prizes were distributed by them for winners in various competitions After presenting a skit, the students presented a comparative study of two poems by Oscar Wilde and Paul Holmes.

A Seminar in connection with Gandhi Jayanthi was conducted on 12th October in the school. The following papers were presented under the topic ‘The Relevance of Gandhi’s Ideas Today’.
Mrs. P. Kotteshwari U.G. Assitant, Dept. of Tamil, S.S.K.V. Hr. Sec. School presented a paper on ‘The Impact of Gandhiyan Thoughts on Bribery’. She had talked in this paper more about the ethics followed by Gandhi in all aspects of life.
Mrs. N. Sathiya U.G. Assitant, Dept. of Tamil, S.S.K.V. Mat. Hr. Sec. School, presented a paper on ‘Gandhi’s principles on Un-touch ability – Have they been brought under practice?’. After bringing out so many atrocities prevalent on Untouchability even today, she had concluded that better we approach this problem through humanism than through politics or law.
Mr. M. Pugazhendhi P.G. Assitant, Dept. of Tamil, S.S.K.V. Boys. Mat. Hr. Sec. School, In his paper ‘Gandhi’s Principle of Ahimsa – has it been followed or not’?. In this paper he had discussed not only the practicality but also the laws pertaining to Ahimsa. He had felt that Ahimsa has not been fully practiced because we see violence everywhere. He concluded saying that we, the citizens of India, born in the country where Gandhi was born have to follow the Ahimsa principles of Gandhi at any cost.
Mrs. T.A. Kumudhavalli a senior teacher, S.S.K.V. Boys. Mat. Hr. Sec. School, presented a paper on ‘State of Religious unity after 70 years of Gandhiji’. The paper was more on secularism, politicians and vote bank of minorities. She had portrayed the problem of the rise of Hindu hegemonism and the apprehension in the minds of minority. Any how the prayer is only for a good solution for this menacing problem.
Mrs. T.L. Durgalakshmi a senior teacher, S.S.K.V. Hr. Sec. School, brought out in her paper titled ‘Gandhiyan ideas on Rural development. Have they been realized?’ has talked about Gandhi’s plan of Rural re construction, villages without any kind of exploitations, village swaraj, self sufficiency, khadi and cottage industries etc. she had concluded that Gandhi belongs to the future and not the past.
Influence of Gandhian thoughts on the present education system’ was the paper presented by Mrs. D. Devi, Teacher S.S.K.V. Mat. Hr. Sec. School. In this paper she has reiterated that Gandhi was the first one to give the blueprint of National System of Education which is job centered value based and mass oriented. It is the model of vocationalisation of education in India.

Gandhi Jayanthi was celebrated on 11th October 2019 with all enthusiasm. The Secretary presided over the function. He narrated some instances from the life of the Father of the Nation and narrated to them Gandhi’s truthfulness and rectitude followed by Gandhiji in his life. Blueprint Publishing conducted training session for the teachers on 3rd October 2019 [Thursday] deputed a Resource Person who made a presentation on the topic of a programme titled “Effective Grammar teaching” conducted in the school premise for teachers of KG to IX teachers. Mrs. Subha Subramanian M.Sc, B.Ed Teacher, Author and Educational Consultant was the Resource Person. In this session she taught about teaching methodology.

Navarathri was celebrated from 29th September 2019 to 8th October 2019 with all devotional fervor by arranging a kolu on the theme “Krishna Charatham” of Lord Vishnu. The depiction of Lord Kishna’s Childhood Pranks and Geethopadesam were very much appreciated by everyone. ‘ The Secretary and the Joint Secretary who visited the Kolu appreciated the interest shown by the students and teachers in such celebrations.
The Navarathri Celebrations came to a conclusion on 8th October 2019 by performing pooja on Vijayadasami.

Resource Person who made a presentation on the topic titled “Junior Training Programme” for English Teachers VI to VIII standard of both Main and Boys Matric. Mr. K. Mageshwaran, B.Tech (Bio Technology), Sr. Trainer at Words Worth English Lab was the resource person. He provided hands-on training which familiarized the teachers with the application.

Subramanya Pillai’s (later known as Naina Pillai) the group of Schools celebrated NAINA PILLAI DAY on Saturday, 21st September 2019 Sri Alapuzha Venkatesan (Asthana Vidwan) of Sri Sankara Mutt gave an interesting and useful talk on the life history and achievements of Sri Naina Pillai. Descendants of Sri Naina Pillai were honoured on the occasion. Teachers, non-teaching staff and students of the music wing of the schools participated in the function

It is a matter of great pride that an Alumna (old student) Dr. Uthra Dorairajan, Ph.D., Associate Professor and HOD Physics, D. G. Vaishnav College, Aminjikarai, Chennai. presided over the Annual Day celebration. In her address, she recalled her nostalgic memories when she was studying in the school. She stressed the importance of education and added that without contribution from teachers it would be difficult to learn anything. The inaugural function of a two-day ‘Leadership Training Camp’ for IX standard students conducted by M/s. Forum of Free Enterprise, jointly with M. R. Pai Foundation, Mumbai was held on Friday, 13th September 2019. Mr. Sachin Kamath and Mrs. Charissa Jathanna were the resource persons. The Secretary in his address stressed the importance of having these types of programmes and appreciated the sponsors. The aim of this program was to overcome their stage fear of the students and many tips were given to them to speak in public forum and for effective communication. Quite a good number of students (boys and girls) of IX standard from the SSKV Matriculation Higher Secondary Schools and Higher Secondary School attended the programme. On Friday, 6th September 2019, the group of schools celebrated the birthday of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, one of the great teachers that India has produced in the modern times. He was an Indian philosopher and statesman who served as the first Vice President of India and the second President of India.
The Secretary and Correspondent of the group of Schools presided over the function. Gifts to the teachers were distributed by the Secretary and the Joint Secretary. Addressing the large gathering of teachers, the Secretary said that the source of knowledge is the teachers and without teachers it is very difficult to achieve development in every field.
And he also added that management is planning to do many training sessions for the teachers.
The cultural programme presented by the students consisted of –

The group of institutions celebrated Founder’s Day on Friday, 30th August 2019. Dr. Nanditha Krishna, Ph.D., President of the group of institutions was the chief guest. In her address, she briefly recalled the birth of SSKV and the sacrifices of the great visionary Sri Somasundara Sastriar. She was full of praise of the selfless service being rendered by the Secretary and Correspondent of the group of institutions Dr. C. K. Raman. The chief guest then released the in-house magazine ‘Guru’ and distributed endowment prizes to the academic achievers. The cultural programme consisted of the following:

2) Debate session on the topic,” by the students of Higher Secondary School
3) Dance Drama by the students of Matriculation Higher Secondary School

Commemorating the 73rd Independence Day celebration, a seminar under the title “Women’s Emancipation in India” was conducted on Saturday, 24th August 2019. Inaugurating the Seminar, in his address, the Secretary recalled the history of women’s freedom before and after independence. He added that presenting a seminar paper will help to improve the creativity of the person.

School, In her paper ‘Women’s Emancipation – From the Views of Bharathiyar’ presented many views of Bharathiyar on Women’s Qualities as a campaigner, as an Advocate for Women’s freedom, as a person of Diverse social activities and as a person of great capability holding a very high position in Public Office as a the Chief Minister of the State.
Mrs. C. Padmavathy, P.G. Assitant, Dept. of Tamil, S.S.K.V. Boys. Mat. Hr. Sec. School, presented a paper on ‘Views of Thiruvalluvar about Women – Are they agreeable to the society of today’. This paper explained how in today’s world many women have reached the zenith in their respective areas.
Mrs.R. Bhuvaneshwari, P.G. Assitant, Dept. of Tamil, S.S.K.V. Mat. Hr. Sec. School, had discussed in her paper ‘Is there any relationship between the Economy of a country and the Subjugation of Women’ about the various problems that a women faces in her working place. She had also stated very vividly about the differences even in prize money etc.
Mrs. V. Durgadevi U.G. Assistant, Dept. of English, S.S.K.V. Hr. Sec. School, in her paper ‘Why is it there are very few Women in Politics’ had brought out many challenges faced by women in Politics, how her domestic duties is one of the important factors acting as stumbling block, the inhibitions bred by customs and traditions, and above all the male domination play a very important role in not allowing her to enter into politics. Of course she had shown how history has stood witness to the brilliance of women in politics by sighting examples of Jayalalitha, Indira Gandhi, Sheila Dikshit and some more.
A senior teacher from S.S.K.V. Mat. Hr. Sec. School, Mrs. R. Mohana presented a paper ‘Do legal enactments provide protection for women’ in which she had explained many acts that protect women from countless brutal forms of assault especially sexual.
Mrs. K. Lakshmi, a senior teacher, S.S.KV. Boys. Mat. Hr. Sec. School, while presenting a paper on ’Indian women In sports a portrayal of the Hurdles they face’ brought out the hurdles and discriminations faced by women in the fields of women. She suggested that a separate ministry of women sports has to be created in each state allocating more funds and encouraging women sports persons.
Mrs.S.Radha, Senior Teacher, S.S.K.V. Girls Hr.Sec.School, Kanchipuram presented a paper on the topic ‘ Women’s Progress in India and The Protagonists of Social Change’. Beginning with the poem of Long Fellow’s which pictured the woes of the women she brought out the views of Mahatma Gandhi on numerous issues that concerned the Indian Society in particular about Women. The lack of progress of women in many fields and even for their natural rights were portrayed with examples of persons who fought for the women folk.
Summing up the sessions, the Secretary and the Joint Secretary appreciated the efforts put in by the teachers who presented the Papers. The programme drew repeated cheers and applaud from the large gathering of teachers and guests.

Independence Day was celebrated in our school on 15th August 2019 with patriotic fervor. After hoisting the flag and taking the salute the Joint Secretary presided over the function. She distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions. A Drama in Tamil, Discussion in English and a Chorus with patriotic themes were presented by the students apart from the March Past and Drill.

A function was held on Thursday, 25th JULY 2019 for distributing scholarship to a few deserving poor students. The financial assistance helping students by a substantial amount was sponsored by Sri Ramakrishna Math, Kanchipuram. Other donors were the family of Dr. C. K. Raman, the Secretary of the School, Mr. K. Veerasubramaniyan and brothers (relative of Dr. Shantha Ramakrishnan, a senior teacher of the school), Theosophisical Society, Kanchipuram. Swami Atmagananandaji Maharaj, President of the Math presided over the function. The cash assistance was graciously handed over to the recipients by Swami Atmagananandaji.
He profusely praised the yeomen and selfless service rendered by the Secretary of the School for imparting quality education to the students. Large number of students and parents of the recipients were also present.

In remembrance of the former Chief Minister Sri K.Kamarajar of Tamil Nadu ‘Kalvi Kann Thirantha Naal’ was celebrated on 15th of July 2019 at our school. The Joint Secretary presided over the function, and gave a passionate speech making the students remember the leader. Prizes were distributed for elocution and essay competitions held in connection with Sri Kamarajar Day. Programs were presented by the students in connection with Kamarajar.

With a view to imparting ‘NEET Entrance Coaching’ to students with proven excellent performance record aspiring to appear for NEET Entrance Test, a inauguration program was held on Monday, 17th JULY 2019 for Sponsoring free coaching classes for selected 20 students. The Joint Secretary welcomed the gathering.
A leading medical practitioner Dr. V. K. Jeevarathinam, M.B.B.S., M.S., MCH, VKJ Hospital was invited the Chief Guest to preside over the function and bless the students. The Secretary in his address said that the classes will be conducted by a group of trained professionals and added that proper reading and practices are very essential to crack the exam. The Chief Guest in his address stressed upon the Importance of NEET entrance exam for medical aspirants who wish to study various medical courses at the prestigious government, private and deemed colleges.

SSKV College of Arts and Science for Women, Kanchipuram under the aegis of the IQAC, hosted a three-day Faculty Enrichment Programme titled “Facilitating Excellence in Effective Leadership” in their premises from 5th July 2019 to 7th July 2019. Resource Person Prof. Sunney Tharappan, Director, College for Leadership & Human Resource Development, Mangaluru conducted the programme covering topics on Leadership Training. Teachers from Matriculation Higher Secondary Schools and Girls Higher Secondary School had attended the programme.
The teachers expressed that the programme was quite informative and the methods of delivery was so easy to receive. The topics discussed in the sessions on all the three days were interactive.

The management is keen to encourage students with proven excellent performance record aspiring to appear for NEET Entrance Test and with this in view, had arranged for conducting coaching classes by a group of trained professionals specialising in coaching students.
On Thursday, 4th JULY 2019, M/s. Target Academy conducted a meeting for motivating the students to enroll for NEET coaching classes. Students of XIA1, XIA2 and XIIA1 attended the motivating session.

Consequent to the Government revising the syllabus which is in line with CBSE syllabus for teachers, Tata Class Edge deputed a Resource Person who made a PowerPoint presentation on the introduction of a programme titled “How to Use Updation Tools” conducted in the school premise for teachers of I to V on 2nd July 2019 [Tuesday] and for teachers of VI to XII on 3rd July 2019 [Wednesday] from 2.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. Mr. C. Vinoth, Manager-Academic Services, addressed the teachers. The Session was handled in an interesting manner and the teachers found it to be very useful. He also provided hands on training which familiarized the teachers with the application.

The teaching staff of the Boys Matriculation Higher Secondary School celebrated the annual ‘SOCIAL BREAK-UP’ marking the end of the academic year 2018-2019, on Wednesday 26th April 2019. Rama Navami is an important Hindu festival in India celebrating the birth of the iconic hero of Indian Epic Ramayana. Sri Rama is believed to be an incarnation of Vishnu and is till date a Role model for generations to follow. On 15th April 2019 Sri Rama Navami was celebrated in our school in the presence of our Secretary and others. Sri Ramayanam Srinivasan from Kanchi Math graced the function with his presence and gave a talk on the NAMA of Sri Rama. The Teachers who have learnt Vishnu

Summer Sports camp for V, VI, VII Boys was conducted in our school. This began on 12.04.2019 and lasted till 21.04.2019. The Students enjoyed the camp very much. They were present here by 6.30 a.m; the Physical Education teachers gave them standard coaching in Sports like Kho – Kho, Volleyball, Football, Table Tennis, Cricket, Athletics, etc. This was inaugurated by the Secretary and the Valediction took place on 21.04.2019. The Students enjoyed not only the camp but also the Breakfast supplied to them by the Management..

A function was held on Friday, 15th March 2019 to bid farewell to Ms. Emily Hope Whipple and Mr. Brian Philip King, the two English Teaching Assistants from the United States deputed under the auspices of USIEF Fulbright Nehru Scholarship.They worked with us during 2018-2019. They taught English to the students of VI and VIII standards. The Management and teachers thankfully expressed their appreciation of the good work of these two teachers. The Secretary felicitating them said that they were able to adapt to the change in the living conditions and to the general atmosphere prevailing in this part of the world. Many of the students could understand the American accent and moved with them with affection. The Secretary appreciated the efficient manner in which they carried out their duties. In their acceptance speech, the teachers thanked the Management for the hospitality and for enabling them to discharge their duties as efficiently as possible. . They were full of appreciation of the students for showing curiosity and interest in learning English.
The students of the two matriculation higher secondary schools presented Western Dance and a farewell song (boys) and American Firework Dance (girls), which were appreciated by everyone.

The school celebrated the Annual Day on 23rd February 2019. Alhaj. K.Moosa Chairman, Dhaanish Ahmed College of Engineering was the chief guest on the occasion. In his presidential address, he stressed the need for involvement in studies as academic excellence helps them in their chosen career , and set good standards. The speech by the Chief Guest was keenly listened to by the students. The chief guest then gave away prizes to the academic achievers.
The cultural programme presented by the students was well appreciated by everyone.

Friday, 22nd February 2019 was the Annual Day of the Music Wing of the group of Schools . Cognitive Neuropsychologist and Music Therapist, Dr. Mythily Thirumalachari, Ph.D., D. Sc., was the chief guest. Her presidential address was avidly followed by parents as she elaborated on the significance of proper dietary habits and the key role played by musicality in human well being- both mental and physical. She also stressed the important and disciplining role of parents in shaping children and exhorted the students to respect the guidance given by parents and teachers. She distributed prizes to the winners in various competitions held in the school earlier.

The schools conducted Summer vacation courses and Evening courses in computer skills for its students. A function was held on Thursday, 14th February 2019 for distribution of Summer Vacation Courses (2018) certificates to 50 students and Evening Special Computer Course certificates to 84 students. The Joint Secretary and the Principal of the School distributed the certificates to the students. In their address, they stressed the importance of learning and interacting with the various options available in computers. The senior staff also participated in the function.

The group of Institutions performed the 169th Aaradhana of the Saint Composer Sadguru Sri Thyagaraja Swami on Thursday, 31st January 2019. Calcutta Shankar and Party rendered Gana Raga ‘Pancharatna’ Keerthanas with bakthi and devotion. At the start of the celebration, students were told about Sri Thyagaraja Swami and his contribution to devotion oriented music. Besides the Secretary and the Principal, teachers and a large number of students of the music wing of the Schools took part in the function.

Vilakku puja is an established practice in our schools preceding Public Examinations..The puja invokes the blessings of God for the Exam going students seeking a hindrance-free atmosphere and success. Students of XII standard performed Vilakku Pooja on 21st January 2019. Devotional songs were rendered by the teachers. The Secretary, the Joint Secretary, the Principal and teachers participated in the function. The Secretary and others addressed the students and asked them to prepare well for the examinations and wished them success.

Swami Atmagananandaji, President of Sri Ramakrishna Math, Kanchipuram was the chief guest at Swami Vivekananda Day celebration on Friday, 11th January 2019. The Swamiji in his address recalled the key incidents in the life of Sri Vivekananda. The chief guest emphasised Swami Viveananda’s vision of national integration . He exhorted the students to follow the messages of Sri Vivekananda for their own upliftment.
Among the many cultural programmes presented by the students of all the four schools, A Drama (Few important events in Vivekananda’s Life) by the VI to VIII students of Boys Matriculation Higher Secondary School was one. All the programmes were appreciated by everyone.

Mathematical genius, the legendary Sri Srinivasa Ramanujan’s Day was celebrated by our school on Thursday, 10th January 2019. Presiding over the function, the Secretary of the schools briefly recalled the life history of Sri Ramanujan and his stupendous contribution to Mathematics; he paid rich tributes to the genius and exhorted the students to seriously take to Mathematics, the Queen of all Sciences that would help them build their careers. Teachers and students presented the various aspects of Sri Ramanujan’s work and projected the great Mathematician’s genius. The Quiz conducted by the teachers of the Department of Maths was appreciated by all. The Secretary, the Joint Secretary and others visited the Exhibition on Maths conducted by Students. Overall it was an inspiring performance by the teachers and students bringing out many vital incidents and information on the life and contributions of Ramanujan, kindling the interest of the students in Mathematics.

The Annual Sports Day was held in the Boys Matriculation Hr. Sec. School on Monday, January 7th, 2019. Dr.Radhakrishnan , Registrar, – Tamilnadu Physical Education and Sports University was the Chief Guest. In his presidential address, stressing the importance of physical fitness, he exhorted the students to take active participation in sports for a healthy life. He then distributed prizes to achievers in sports events held in Intra and Inter School – competitions. The students presented Mass Drills,Yoga and martial Arts .

The valedictory function of the 19th Annual Book Exhibition was held on Wednesday, 26th December 2018. Dr. K. R. Venkatesan, Ph.D., Principal, Sri Sankara Arts and Science College, Enathur, Kanchipuram was the chief guest. In his address, at the outset, he profusely praised the selfless and dedicated service being rendered by the Secretary for the growth of the group of SSKV institutions. He added that the Secretary is the role model for people like himself. Continuing his inspiring speech, he impressed upon the usefulness and importance of Reading. He extensively quoted from legends like Socrates (Philosophy) , Sri Annadurai (Tamil Literature), Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru (Public Administration) and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar (Constitution Law) and spoke on the invaluable experience and message they had left behind for posterity. On this occasion, the booksellers and publishers who had participated in the Exhibition were honoured.

The inaugural function of the 20th Annual Book Exhibition was held on Wednesday, 19th December 2018. An erudite and multi-faceted personality, Short Story Writer and Orator, Kalaimamani Smt. Andal Priyadarshini, M.A., M. Phil., was the Chief Guest at the function.
The Chief guest delivering an impactful and inspiring speech laid great stress on the necessity and importance of cultivating reading habits. Extensively quoting St. Thiruvalluvar, the social reformer Swami Vivekananda, the national poet Subramanya Bharathi and the missile-man Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, she exhorted the students to utilize their youthful years by usefully devoting more time for reading books. She added that reading books alone will elevate a person in many ways and cited instances from her own personal life and experience for examples. Repeated cheers and applause from the large gathering of students were an acknowledgement of their having absorbed the message of the chief guest.
She released “GNANI”, the in-house journal – Mathematics and Other Sciences. Representatives of a few among the participating booksellers and publishers who spoke at the function, thanked the Management for organizing such an event and said that they would continue to support the laudable efforts of the institution .
Sri Muthu Ramamoorthy, Secretary, Kanchi Kamban Kazhagam was invited as a guest to attend the function.

Bharathiyar Day was celebrated in the School on 15th DEC. Saturday, 2018. The greatness of Bharathiyar who combined nationalistic fervour with Poetic genius was explained to the students. The Secretary of the School presided over the function. He pointed out that Bharathiyar was one of the earliest to visualize the oneness of our great country. He and the Joint Secretary distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions held in the school earlier. Students presented an impressive variety of cultural programmes depicting Bharathiyar’s thirst for freedom.

A function was held on Friday, 7th December 2018 to felicitate and distribute sports track suits. 203 Merit Holders of our Schools had won prizes in Zonal, District, Divisional and State level sports competitions organised by School Education Department, School Games Federation of India and Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu. The competitions were in a variety of sports and games events on national days like Republic Day , Bharathiyar Day, and , Chief Minister’s Cup Tournament Khelo India Scheme. The students were given certificates and mementos. The Secretary in his address outlined the various measures implemented to encourage the students to actively take part in as many events as possible. The Principal and the Physical Education Director Mr. A. Sunderamurthy also addressed the students.

The whole show was conducted depicting the steps that Nehru took in developing our nation by giving priority to science and industries. A Quiz program on the Life history of Nehru was conducted everyone. The Secretary and the audience appreciated the program.

The group of Schools celebrated Sri Mudduswamy Dikshidar Day, one of the legends of Carnatic Music, on Friday, 9th November 2018. Ms. Brinda Manickavasagam rendered a music recital singing a few Keerthanas of Sri Mudduswamy Dikshidar. Students of the Music School and teachers and non-teaching staff were present in large numbers appreciated her soulful rendering of the Keerthanas of Sri Mudduswamy Dikshidar and her interesting inter-action with the students at the conclusion of the programme.

Our school’s English Literary Association named ‘Srijan’ held its first association meeting for this academic year on 30th October 2018. The Secretary and Joint Secretary inducted the Office Bearers. Prizes were distributed by them for winners in various competitions like handwriting, essay etc. held under the auspices of English Literary Association. After presenting a skit, the students presented a comparative study of two poems by Robert Frost and William Hendry Davies. The program came to an end with a short play ‘ The Tell – Tale Heart’ by Edgar Allan Poe.

Navarathri was celebrated from 09th October 2018 to 19th October 2018 with all devotional fervor by arranging a kolu on the theme “Aathi Varadhan” of Lord Vishnu Aathi Varadhan’ and the four important Divya Desams connected with Him along with the divine events that occurred in those places were depicted through dolls. ‘the The Secretary and the Joint Secretary who visited the Kolu appreciated the interest shown by the students and teachers in such celebrations.

Gandhi Jayanthi was celebrated on 6th October 2018 with all enthusiasm. The Secretary presided over the function. He narrated some instances from the life of the Father of the Nation and narrated to them Gandhi’s truthfulness and rectitude followed by Gandhiji in his life. He distributed prizes to the students who won in competitions held in connection with this function. The Students presented a drama in Tamil, a discussion in English. A verse on Gandhi in Tamil was rendered.

Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) or Sriharikota Range (SHAR) is a rocket launch centre operated by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). It is located in Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. Sriharikota Range was renamed in 2002 after ISRO’s former chairman Satish Dhawan.
It Conducted the ‘ World Space Week’ 2018 in SSKV Schools West Raja Street, Kanchipuram from 5th October to 7th October 2018. They exhibited models of Rockets and Satellites which were very much enjoy by the students. Many Schools came and visited by the Exhibition of the models and photographs. It was very educative.
Competitions were conducted by the Resource Persons from ISRO and many prizes were given.

‘Zhakaram Tamizh Ilakkiya Mandram’, our Tamil Literary Club held its first association meeting in Maithiri Auditorium on 29th September 2018. It was presided over by the Secretary. After inducting the office bearers, the Secretary distributed the prizes. Thereafter the students presented a program under three different heads namely Drama, chorus, and Quiz . The Quiz program was very much appreciated and enjoyed by all.

In memory of Sri Naina Pillai, the yesteryear legend and doyen of music who hailed from Kanchipuram, the group of Schools celebrated Naina Pillai Day on Friday, 14th September 2018. Sri Ramayanam Srinivasan of Sri Sankara Mutt gave a brief talk on the life history and achievements of Sri Naina Pillai. Dr. T. R. Aravindhan, M.D.S., B (Music), Dentist, Musician and Music Researcher who was the chief guest at the celebration rendered soulful and impressive lecture-demo. Descendants of Sri Naina Pillai were honoured on the occasion. Teachers, non-teaching staff and students of the music wing of the schools participated in the function.

On 12th September students of our school, under the guidance of our Sanskrit Master took part in the recitation of Vishnu Sahasranamam at Kanchi Mutt in commemoration with the 84th birthday of Poojya Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swami. The crowd appreciated the recitation very much. Poojaya Sri Sankara Vijayendra Swamiji blessed the students.

The inaugural function of a two-day ‘Leadership Training Camp’ for IX standard students conducted by M/s. Forum of Free Enterprise, jointly with M. R. Pai Foundation, Mumbai was held on Monday, 10th September 2018. Quite a good number of students (boys and girls) of IX standard from the SSKV Matriculation Higher Secondary Schools and Higher Secondary School attended the programme. Zonal Athletic Meet for High jump was conducted in the Boys School on 16th August 2018. The meet was inaugurated by our Secretary. Nearly 300 students from 45 schools took part in the meet. Boys and Girls from all the 3 categories participated. Physical Education teachers from all the schools were also present.
The meet was enjoyed by everybody.

Independence Day was celebrated in our school on 15th August 2018 with patriotic fervor. After hoisting the flag and taking the salute the Joint Secretary presided over the function. She distributed prizes to the winners of various sports competition and other merit certificates in competitions conducted by Kanchi Sivanaadiyar Thirukuttam. Consequent to the Government of Tamil Nadu revising the syllabus in respect of three classes viz., VI, IX and XI standards, the group of schools has been organizing Workshops for the subjects covered in the syllabus. Accordingly on Saturday, 4th August 2018, an ‘Orientation Session’ for teachers handling Physics was conducted. The Workshop was held in two sessions – one in the forenoon and the other in the afternoon.

The topics covered were Simple Problems of Various Concepts in various types. Mathematical Approaches for the Concepts were explained in detail. During the group discussions, the teachers had their doubts cleared, enthusiastically interacted with the visiting faculty and thanked the Management for arranging the Workshop.

The group of institutions celebrated Founder’s Day on Tuesday, JULY 24, 2018. Dr. Nanditha Krishna, Ph.D., President of the Group of Institutions was the chief guest on the occasion. She released the in-house magazine “The Recall”, in the boys school. In her address, the chief guest appreciated the performance of the school in large number securing many prizes in sports and inter school Competitions. Also, she acknowledged the contribution of the teachers in this achievement. She then distributed endowment prizes to the academic achievers. The variety programme presented by the students was much appreciated.

The Alumni Association of the Schools, as part of their activities, had arranged for a counselling session on Thursday, 19th July 2018.
Ten students each from Girls, Boys and the State Board schools attended the counselling session by Dr. R. Satish Kumar, Senior Assistant Surgeon, Government Hospital, Kanchipuram. The students expressed their happiness at having had an opportunity to discuss their problems with a leading Psychiatrist and thanked the management.

In remembrance of the former Chief Minister Sri K.Kamarajar of Tamil Nadu ‘Kalvi Kann Thirantha Naal’ was celebrated on 16th of July 2018 at our school. The Joint Secretary presided over the function, and gave a passionate speech making the students remember the leader. Prizes were distributed for elocution and essay competitions held in connection with Sri Kamarajar Day. The students presented lively programs of discussion in English, a drama in Tamil and a Chorus on the achievements and services of Sri Kamarajar.

The teachers enthusiastically interacted with the visiting faculty and thanked the management for arranging the Workshop.

A function was held on Friday, 6th JULY 2018 for distributing scholarship to a few deserving poor students. The assistance helping students by a substantial amount was sponsored by Sri Ramakrishna Math, Kanchipuram. Other donors were the family related to Senior Staff Dr. Shantha Ramakrishanan of the Boys School, Theosophical Society, Kanchipuram and the family of Dr. C. K. Raman, the Secretary of the School. Swami Atmagananandaji Maharaj, President of the Math presided over the function and gave away the scholarship to 37 students. The cash assistance was graciously handed over to the recipients by Swami Atmagananandaji. In his address, the Swamiji stressed upon the importance of higher education and said that interest in pursuing studies, good character and adhering to our country’s rich culture are the ingredients to success. He profusely praised the yeomen and selfless service rendered by the Secretary of the School for imparting quality education to the students. Large number of students and parents of the recipients were also present.

With a view to imparting ‘NEET Entrance Coaching’ to students with proven excellent performance record aspiring to appear for NEET Entrance Test, a function was held on Monday, 2nd JULY 2018 for inaugurating ‘Special NEET Coaching Classes’. The Secretary and Correspondent of the group of schools in his address said that the classes will be conducted by a group of trained professionals specialising in coaching students preparing for NEET exam. He added that there will be frequent tests to find out the comprehension on the part of students and said that the fees fixed is nominal as the management is bearing a big part of it. He asked the students to start working earnestly right from the start
The faculty of Target Academy, Dr. S. Prasadh (Chemistry) and Dr. Arunagiri (Zoology), who conducted the coaching classes and the Heads of institutions addressed the students.

The government has revised the syllabus in respect of three classes, VI, IX and XI standards. The new syllabus is in line with the CBSE syllabus and in some areas a little more than that.
Our teachers who are familiar with the old State Board syllabus need to be introduced to this pattern of syllabus and the management has arranged for classes to orient the teachers to grasp the syllabus and its pattern. For each one of the subjects, a professor or a teacher familiar with the new syllabus is asked to take the orientation class.
In this context, on our invitation, Dr. Mujeera Fathima, Ph. D. Associate Professor and Head, Department of Botany, Government Arts College, Nandanam, Chennai conducted an ‘Orientation Session’ to Teachers of the Department of Botany, on Friday, 22nd June 2018. Teachers enthusiastically interacted with the visiting faculty.
Professor Alladi Sriram of Jain College, Chennai is taking classes for Mathematics. For the other subjects also, teachers familiar with CBSE syllabus are engaed to take classes.

The Secretary inducted the office bearers. Then he distributed prizes to the winners in various competitions conducted under the auspices of the Tamil Literary Association. Thereafter the students presented a program under three different heads namely Prose (Iyal), Poetry (Isai) and Drama. Everyone appreciated the presentations.

The Olympic torch was taken round the ground and handed over to the Secretary as the symbol of Inauguration. The secretary was present for the first few events and encouraged the students.

He narrated some instances from the life of the Father of the Nation and described to the students Gandhi’s truthfulness and rectitude. He distributed prizes to the students who won in competitions held in connection with this function. The Students presented a discussion in English about Gandhi. A verse on Gandhi in Tamil was rendered. A drama in Tamil was enacted depicting events from Gandhi’s is life. A chorus was sung in praise of Gandhi as the last item of the program.

The Six important ‘Divine Marriages’ were beautifully depicted through many dolls. Traditional form of kolu also added colour to the show. The President of our Institution Mrs. Nandhitha Krishna along with her son Mr. Prashanth, Treasurer visited the kolu with great interest and appreciated it very much. The Secretary and the Joint Secretary who visited the Kolu were very much pleased about the interest shown by the students and teachers in such celebrations, in a grand way.

We are proud that one of our successful old students Srimathi Anuradha Sundararajan presided over the function at the Annual Day celebration. On Friday, 7th September 2018, the group of schools celebrated the birthday of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, one of the great teachers that India has produced in the modern times. Rising from small levels, he had achieved the highest honour of becoming President of India.
The Secretary and Correspondent of the group of Schools presided over the function. Gifts to the teachers were distributed by the Secretary and the Joint Secretary. The Secretary then released the in house magazine “GURU”. Addressing the large gathering of teachers, the Secretary said that the source of knowledge is the teachers and right from the KG stages up to the post-doctoral level we need guides to take us on the right path. We are venerating the teachers on this day as we want them to emulate Dr. Radhakrishnan and make efforts to acquire more knowledge. He wondered that although we are adapting ourselves to the changed system, whether the teachers’ knowledgebility has improved to cope up with the hungry needs of the students and that is the why we are making efforts to make the teachers upgrade the level of their knowledge by providing facilities like the Bodhi Centre. He further said that we are arranging to get more experienced teachers to take classes for them and added that even classes devoted to each subject will be arranged.

“Ivargal Santhithal” (Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Radhakrishnan) by the students of Mat. Hr. Sec. School
Drama “Guru Bakthi” by the students of Boys Mat. Hr Sec. School
“Jayendrar Kuravanji” – Dance Drama by the students of Higher Secondary School
“Chorus” by the students of Higher Secondary School
The programme presented by the students was appreciated by everyone.

Every year, the birth day of Statesman, Philosopher and former President of India, Sarvapalli Dr. Radhakrishnan is celebrated all over the country as ‘Teachers’ Day’. Our School celebrated his birthday on Tuesday, 5th September 2017 in Maithri Auditorioum. The Secretary and the Joint Secretary attended the function along with the Principal , Staff and Students of Boys school. They presented mementos to all the teachers.
In his address, he recalled the great intellectual qualities of Dr. Radhakrishnan and exhorted the teachers to equip themselves well by exposing themselves to modern knowledge through a variety of reading. The cultural programme presented by the students was appreciated by one and all.

Smart classes inaugurated, and the school joins the select few in the entire state, to adopt the technology driven learning platform . The Tata Class Edge- provided suite of products were inaugurated in all the class rooms ensuring new learning paths for the students. Introduced into the school four years back, the Tata Edge Class had been a success story , with the teachers and students adapting to it with great enthusiasm.

The secretary issued the “Manners Manual” complied by him, at the Maithri auditorium , at a gathering of teachers. The Manual seeks to instill in the students the socially acceptable good manners as well as behavior that shape a cultured personality. The teachers were asked to give importance to the character development in the students . Ideas of how best to convey the message to students, the strategies and modalities , were exchanged at the meeting.

The Boys school celebrated the Independence day with great enthusiasm evidenced by a huge turnover of students. Many of the Old students now studying in various higher institutions of studies had also come . Flag hoisting, mass drill, and speeches , songs and plays with patriotic themes marked the occasion. One highlight was, the “Kavithai manram” presented by the teachers. Three of the teachers, Mrs. A. Thangam, Mrs. C. Padhmavathi and Mrs. B. Banurekha recited poems which they had themselves written, with themes of discipline and importance of education…

Teachers from all the sections of the entire sskv Group of schools participated in the workshop conducted by the Sri Saradha seva sangat. Sister Nioveditha ,xxxx of Kanchipuram conducted the program. The teachers later at an interactive session, gave positive and enthusiastic feedback on the stress management program and said that it has had a beneficial impact.
On this same day a quizz program was conducted by the senior staff of boys school for the students of 8th to 12th. The Quizz was to mark the 70th year of Independence, and had for its theme, the roll of Tamilnadu in Independence struggle. The quizz program brought to light of knowledge , the many hidden chapters of the Tamil freedom fighters.

Dr Nanditha krishna , Our Education Society’s President , released the RECALL, the Boys school magazine. The students who had completed their Adithya Hridayam Course, chanted the slokham at the function . Dr Nanditha , after giving away prizes to winners of District level competitions, spoke on the importance of hard work and discipline.
The same evening, the Founders Day was celebrated in the Girls school grounds in a combined function in which students from Boys school also joined , with programs honoring the founding members of the Education society.

Science club activities unrolled with the start of a Quiz program too. The activity focused on the students’ close and complete reading of their Texts, thus preparing them for a thorough and in-depth understanding of the subject.

Kamarajar Day. Flag hoisting , March past and singing of national songs marked the day. at Boys school. Recitals and discussions with stress on education, were staged. Boys winning prizes in various interschool and intra school events as well as in the Literary and writing skill development competitions conducted in the school, recieved their awards.
Close on its heel , after the celebration ended, Maths Club held its Quiz competition First Round, at the Mythri auditorium in which students of 6 to 8 participated The winners were selected for the Second Round.

More scholarships. At a function held in the SSKV Girls school grounds, Theosophical society
scholarships were extended to 20 students, both Boys and Girls of the Matriculation schools and the Higher secondary. The benefactors were the Theosophical society @ Kanchipuram and Sri CK Raman’s family presided over the function.
